| INTERMET CORPORATION 301 Commerce Street Suite 2901 Fort Worth, TX 76102 Tel: 817-348-9190 Fax: 866-833-3583 News Release INTERMET CORPORATION RECEIVES NATIONAL SAFETY AWARD FT. WORTH, Texas – June 2, 2008 – Four Intermet Corporation locations have been recognized with a prestigious safety award by the North American Die Casting Association (NADCA) for their safety performance in 2007. Each year, the North American Die Casting Association honors corporate members that have met or exceeded key safety guidelines established by the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration. Intermet was honored for the performance of its Minneapolis Plant in New Hope, Minn; its Jackson and Pulaski, Tenn. plants; and its Monroe City, Mo. complex, which has aluminum and zinc operations. The award was presented at NADCA’s Recognition Luncheon recently as part of the CastExpo ’08, a leading industry trade show in Atlanta. “When we are recognized within the industry for safety, it indicates just how aware people are about safety in the plant,” said Bob Axe, group president, Die Cast Group. “We train continuously on this issue, teaching people to be aware of their peers and their surroundings.” The plants use various combinations of audits, daily safety discussions, recognition banquets, and annual safety meetings to drive home the importance of safety. All incidents relating to the issue are investigated thoroughly, and measures are taken to reduce risks in the future. To qualify for the award, a plant had to achieve a “DART” score of 7.0 or less per 100 people in a year, the national average for all die casting manufacturing. DART, a measurement of work time lost, refers to days away from work, on restricted work or on a job transfer related to injury and illness. The NADCA is the industry association for the die casting industry. Its corporate members include companies with die casting manufacturing operations and their suppliers in North America. Only corporate members in the U.S. are eligible for the award.
