FORT WORTH, TEXAS, August 10, 2007 - Intermet Corporation, one of the world's leading manufacturers of cast-metal automotive components, this week reached a significant milestone for a metal-casting foundry. Intermet's Archer Creek Foundry, located in Lynchburg, VA, and its 385 employees have worked 365 consecutive days without a lost-time injury.

Steve Lake, President of Intermet's Ferrous Division, attributes this second safety milestone in the last 4 months to the dedicated employees of Archer Creek. "As our safety slogan states, 'The Parts We Make. The Way We Work.' truly reflects the way our plants operate. The focus on safety is very apparent throughout the entire plant. Not a day goes by without every employee working together to make their plant one of the safest in the industry. Teamwork, care, and attention to detail create the environment to achieve such great success."

The Archer Creek Plant Human Resources Manager, Walter Vrobel, credits employee involvement, experience, training, first aid care and the plant safety initiative for accomplishing this milestone. "Our employees go through extensive safety training and our safety program stresses employee involvement and reporting of any potential hazardous conditions in the workplace. The USW Local Union 8270 and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Lodge No.10 are directly involved with the safety process at our plant."

To celebrate this accomplishment, Archer Creek Foundry employees will be treated to a catered dinner during all three shifts at the plant on August 22, 2007 and will receive commemorative t-shirts.
