INTERMET ELECTS BYTHA MILLS TO THE POSITION OF VICE PRESIDENT OF ADMINISTRATION

TROY, Mich., December 6, 2002 - INTERMET Corporation (Nasdaq: INMT) announced today that Bytha Mills has been elected by the Board of Directors to the position of Vice President of Administration from Director, Corporate Affairs. Mills becomes an officer of the company and is responsible for INTERMET's investor relations, human resources, benefits and communications. She also maintains responsibility for senior management compensation administration.

Prior to serving as Director, Corporate Affairs, Mills had been Manager of Investor Relations since joining INTERMET in February 1997. Before that, she served in numerous positions of increasing responsibility at Dana Corporation, including human resources manager and accounting supervisor. Mills is originally from Arkansas and joined Dana immediately after obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Arkansas State University. She also holds a Masters of Science in human resources from Indiana Wesleyan University.
