Bill Whalen
Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer.

Bill Whalen joined Intermet as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer in August 2006. In this position, he is responsible for all financial operations of the company.

Whalen brings 25 years of diversified and international manufacturing and financial experience to Intermet, including 15 years experience in the Tier-one automotive supply industry.

Prior to Intermet, Whalen led the Finance Organization for Magna International's Intier Automotive Interiors operations in North America and Asia.

Previously, he held key financial leadership positions with United Technologies Corporation and Ernst & Young.

Whalen has a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Virginia, and is both a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant.


Robert "Bob" Axe
Group President - Die Cast Group

Robert "Bob" Axe assumed the role of Group President, Die Cast Group, in January 2008, utilizing extensive experience in the manufacturing sector with Honda of America Manufacturing ,where he held multiple positions over the past 24 years.

In this capacity, Axe has overall responsibility for Intermet's Die Cast operations, reporting directly to Jeff Mihalic, president & CEO, Intermet Corporation.

Most recently, Axe held the position of Vice President and Plant Manager for Honda's Marysville (Ohio) Motorcycle Plant, the company's only motorcycle plant in North America.

Prior to that, he spent five years as Honda's Assistant Vice President of North American Purchasing, where his responsibilities included providing supplier support, handling new model activities and supplier lean initiatives.

Formerly, Axe held the position of Vice President in charge of the start-up of a new green field site for a grey and ductile Iron Foundry for Asama Coldwater (Michigan) Manufacturing, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Honda.

Axe began his career as a Project Leader for Honda's Anna (Ohio) Engine Plant, where he led the Die Cast operations for 10 years.

Axe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton.


Troy Jonas
Group President - Ferrous Group

Troy Jonas serves as Intermet's Group President - Ferrous Group, a position he has held since September 2007. In this role Jonas has full responsibility for all of Intermet's Ferrous operations including plants in Columbus, Ga.; Lynchburg, Va.; Radford, Va. and Hibbing, Minn.

Jonas has over 15 years experience in the manufacturing sector including extensive experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma activities. Jonas is now instrumental in leading the drive to implement these programs throughout Intermet's operations.

Prior to joining Intermet, he served as Operating Partner at Q Investments, Fort Worth, Texas since February 2007. From 1998 to 2007, Jonas worked at Bombardier Aerospace, serving most recently as Vice President and General Manager at the company's Aircraft Services operations in Wichita, Kan., where he lead a profitable $330 million aircraft maintenance, repair and overall business and oversaw operations at 11 facilities nationwide with a workforce of 2,400 employees.

Before Bombardier, Jonas held several senior managerial positions at the Lockheed-Martin Aircraft Center in Greenville, S.C., in their Maintenance and Production Control Operations, and with Boeing Commercial Airplane Group, Everett, Wash., serving as Senior Engineer, Producibility.

Jonas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.


Don L. Hays
Vice President, Group President - PCPCTM Group

Don L. Hays assumed the role of President of Intermet's PCPCTM Group in April 2006 utilizing his 33 years of manufacturing experience helping the business group improve its operation metrics.

Prior, Hays was deployed as the Corporate General Manager of Light Metals Material Management in an effort to secure much needed purchasing synergy.

Prior to that, he was the General Manager of Intermet Missouri Operations, responsible for the P&L of five profit centers.

Earlier, Hays was the Chief Operating Officer of Diversified Diemakers Inc. launching the operations into the world economy and introducing lean manufacturing to the company.

Prior to that, he was the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President Finance and Treasurer of Diversified Diemakers Inc.

Hays started his manufacturing career with Diemakers in the early 1970's as a computer programmer/systems analyst receiving his training in the United States Air Force.


Steve Lake
Executive Vice President, Sales and Strategy

Steve Lake rejoined Intermet Corporation in April 2006 as the President of the Domestic Ferrous Group and immediately began integrating all four domestic ferrous operations into a cohesive group applying his 24 years of manufacturing experience of which most was directly involved in foundry operations.

In September 2007, he was promoted to Executive Vice President Sales & Strategy to further strengthen Intermet's customer relationships and overall strategy.

Prior to joining Intermet, Lake was the Chief Executive Officer of Columbus Steel Castings Company, Columbus, Ohio, a steel foundry serving mainly the railroad industry.

Prior to that, he served as General Manager of Intermet's largest domestic ferrous operation, Columbus Foundry.

Lake has been involved in a number of turnaround assignments at several foundry operations in the role of General Manager as well as a start up operation for Intermet.

He began his career working at General Dynamics working mainly on government programs. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing with an emphasis on production operations from Bradley University, Peoria, Ill.
